If you would like the presence of a dog on our walk or session in nature, then you might like to meet my furry friends and valued part of the Off the Couch team, Hiro and Derry.
Animals can provide a wonderful soothing presence in therapy. With their soft coats and playful nature many of my clients have enjoyed their sessions where one of my dogs has accompanied us.

Did you know?
Just looking at a dog can lift your spirits: a 2009 study in Japan found that staring into your dog’s eyes raises your level of oxytocin, also known as the “love hormone.” Besides the general health benefits of owning a dog, they are natural mood boosters. In another study it was discovered that just 10 minutes petting a dog can have a significant impact, and that just petting a familiar dog lowers blood pressure, heart rate, slows breathing, and relaxes muscle tension.

Meet Hiro. Hiro is an 11 year old kelpie cross. He has been brought up in a very noisy and busy family home, is well used to loud and boisterous children and loves nothing more than going for walks and having his head scratched. He is a super sensitive soul and will happily sit with clients who need a little comfort and love.
*Hiro is suited to clients who prefer a quiet and calm dog.
Meet Derry. Derry is a 5 year old border collie. Derry is definitely the more excited and fun loving boy of the team. He loves fetching a ball (over and over again) and likes long beach walks. He also is a great lover of pats and cuddles. His long fluffy coat is the best to snuggle up to.
*Derry is suited to clients who are more comfortable around super energetic and bigger dogs.
